Just In : Plateau appoints first female college executive

Officials in Plateau State have announced the appointment of the first female head of tertiary institution in the State.

Mrs. Ketsweth Yosi Anderson was appointed the Provost of the State’s College of Health Technology, Zawan.

Prof. Matur Benard Malau, the State Commissioner of Higher Education announced Tuesday, Mrs. Anderson was appointed after emerging top in a recent recruitment exercise that screened dozens of candidates for the post.

Anderson who holds a Doctoral degree in Medical Laboratory Science becomes the first female to head any of the State’s tertiary institutions, Prof. Malau told reporters in Jos.

Until her appointment, she was the Acting Provost of the college since November 2021.

“Her appointment was based on merit, even though our government is gender sensitive,” said Malau.

“His Excellency, Governor Simon Lalong is someone who recognizes hard work and commitment,” he added, noting Anderson has in addition to her exceptional credentials revamped the college within the one year she acted as its executive.

“The office of the Provost was declared vacant in November 2021.

“His Excellency ordered the advertisement of the seat. After due process of selection, the college council recommended the best three candidates to the Governor and he found her most qualified,” Malau added.
