PLASU TO STRENGTHEN COVID-19 RESPONSE FOR SAFE TEACHING AND LEARNING
Vice Chancellor of the Plateau State University Bokkos, Prof. Yohana Daniel Izam has vowed to strengthen Covid-19 response in the university.
The Vice Chancellor stated this when he received the NANS Covid-19 campus monitoring team led by its chairman, Comrade Collins Ezele Sunday.
The Vice Chancellor told the student body that temperature checks, wearing of face masks, social distancing in offices, hostels and lecture halls, washing of hands and other safety protocols have always been enforced in the university in order to ensure safe space for teaching and learning.
On the recent unfortunate breach of security at the institution, the VC said the University will collaborate with security agencies to ensure off campus security by providing intelligence adding that Visitor to the university and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong has ordered the siting of a police post within the general area with immediate effect.
The Vice Chancellor discouraged reckless lifestyles and excessive nightlife by students staying off campus for fear of providing breeding grounds for evil-doers.
Professor Yohana Izam said other measures taken to curtail night activities by students staying off campus include installation of transformers and boreholes for effective power and water supply.
Earlier, Chairman of the NANS Covid-19 campus monitoring team, Comrade Collins Ozele Sunday said the mandate of his committee is to ensure compliance with all Covid-19 protocols around Nigerian campuses in order to stop the spread of the deadly virus among students.
