The Unrevealed Benefits of Joining PMAN for Artists: Unlocking Your Potential in the Music Industry

The Performing Musicians Employers’ Association Of Nigeria (PMAN) is a venerable organization established by Christy Essien-Igbokwe and Sunny Okosun in 1984 with the primary aim of safeguarding, advocating for, and promoting the interests of musicians in Nigeria. Endorsed by the Nigerian government under the Trade Unions Act, PMAN also shoulders the responsibility of regulating the music profession within the country.

This body provides a ready-made framework for artists and musicians to harness, enabling them to assert their rights and privileges. It’s a hidden gem that often flies under the radar, mainly because show organizers, event planners, and others in the industry don’t want artists in Plateau to grasp the power that PMAN wields.

As a PMAN member, your rights and entitlements as an artist are safeguarded.

The benefits are plenty:
✅ Health insurance
✅ Broadcasting of your songs in 162 countries (thanks to PMAN’s own Radio & TV station)
✅ Access to grants
✅ Residential permits abroad, and a plethora of other benefits.

The call to action is clear: artists need to unite, register with PMAN, and collaboratively work to elevate the entertainment industry in Plateau State to new heights. Prominent A-list artists like Davido, 2Baba, and Skales are already part of PMAN.

PMAN’s leadership includes the likes of Pretty Okafor as the President, Rugged Man heading the Media, Sunny Neji as 1st Vice President and Zaaki Aazay as 2nd vice Presidents…. This association stands as the primary unifying force in the world of musicians today.

So, don’t hesitate; become a PMAN member now. Whether you are affiliated with a record label or not, it’s crucial to understand that PMAN can offer you a safety net, recall the case of late Mohbad. You never can tell when it will go wrong

This is a wakeup call to all artists and musicians in Plateau, urging them to work together for a more prosperous music and entertainment industry. Consider how other entertainers are organized, show mutual support, and collaborate under one unified platform to prevent event clashes and ensure fair compensation.

There’s no place for event organizers to exploit your talent by asking for free performances. Moreover, radio stations should contribute to promoting local talent and content by playing at least 60% local artists’ songs and incorporating local content in their entertainment news.

When you have PMAN, who else would you rather align with? And if you’re dissatisfied with the current leadership, join PMAN, register, and help elect the leaders you believe will represent your interests.
