STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION : PICTDA TRAINS PLATEAU BLOGGERS

The challenges of fake news, misinformation and inciting reportage can only be reduced minimally when all practitioners on the online media space heed to the professional ethics of journalism that is geared towards objectivity, balance and credibility.

A two day capacity building training workshop on strategic communication for bloggers in Plateau State was organized by the Plateau Information Communication Technology Development Agency in collaboration with DEVROCK communication Limited to shape and guide bloggers on the Plateau on how to effectively inform the public and not to misinform them, and also understand social responsibility and agenda setting.

20 bloggers were successfully trained and issued with certificate of attendance to go back and explore what they have learned during the two days’ workshop.

Friday Bako, the chairman Plateau Bloggers and Online Media Association (PLABOMA), applauded the swift respond of the DG PICTDA, David Daser, stating how timely this training is as to the challenges that technology is bringing, and the world is evolving on daily basis as we are in the era of technology.

He also commended the facilitators, Dr James Ashiekpe, Solomon Kwakfut, and Herbert Gomagallah for impacting more knowledge on the bloggers, as what they learned will add value to the state and country at large.
