Plateau Deputy Governor, Hon. Mrs Josephine Piyo has been inaugurated as a member, Board of Governors, People’s Democratic Institute (PDI)
The inauguration and the unveiling of the Roadmap for the PDI were held at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat, Abuja.
In an address, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the Chief Unveiler of the Roadmap said that the PDI had contributed positively to governance initiatives and served as a platform for strategic insights for national development.
Governor Makinde added that with the revitalization of the PDI, the PDP is ready to provide real hope to Nigerians come 2027.
Sen Bukola Saraki in a remark, applauded members of the party for coming together to revitalize the PDI to further strengthen the ideology and policies of the PDP.
He called on party members to move away from building the idea of self-ambition and build the party that would give Nigeria the leaders they deserve.
Earlier, The Director General, of PDI, Dr Edward Adie, in a remark stated that the inauguration of the board was to kickstart the Institute which was founded 24 years ago.
Adie, said that the PDI is established to be the most prestigious Institute for democracy research, education, training, capacity building, and documentation on democratic phenomena such as leadership, good governance, and accountability in Nigeria.
He added that the institute would function as a stakeholder in the global democratic space, contributing towards democratic growth, through collaboration with distinguished partners from both government and non-governmental organizations to develop skills and capacities to engage the policy process as stipulated by the Nigeria constitution, the PDP’s constitution and international democratic principles and conventions.
Highlights of the event were the unveiling of the Roadmap of the PDI and the dressing of the Board of Governors.
Other members of the board include Sen. Samuel Anyawu, (PDP National Secretary), Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta (Deputy Governor Adamawa State), Sen. Ben Obi, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, (Deputy Governor Imo State), Sen. Ighoyota Amori, Sen. Kamorudeen Oyewumi, Dr Usman Abdur’rahman, Dr Glory Edet, Gabriel Pearse Ph.D, Rt. Hon. Josiah Kente, Rt. Hon. David Umbugadu, Mr Abdulrasheed Ibrahim with Amb. Taoferk Arapaja (PDP) Deputy National Chairman (South) as chairman of the Board.
