HAPFA EXTENDS COLLABORATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PLANT SCIENCE AND BIOTECHNOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF JOS

“We are open to collaborations that will bring about environmental sustainability,” said Prof. Ahmed Ali, Head of the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology at the University of Jos, during a courtesy visit from Habitable Planet For All (HAPFA), an organization dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability and raising ecological awareness.

Yesterday May 30th, 2024, the leadership of HAPFA engaged with the department to explore opportunities for partnership and collaboration on environmental sustainability projects. The delegation was graciously received by Prof. Ali, who praised the enthusiastic and forward-thinking approach of the youth involved in environmental advocacy. “It is commendable to see young individuals dedicated to enhancing the health and safety of our community through impactful environmental programs,” Prof. Ali remarked.

Led by Mr. Goewam Ladat Joseph Team Lead/Chairman HAPFANIGERIA, the team detailed their visit’s objectives, underscoring the importance of establishing a collaborative framework with the department. Mr. Ladat presented an overview of HAPFA’s current and upcoming projects, which include initiatives in biodiversity conservation, environmental protection campaigns, and extensive climate education and awareness activities. He also highlighted plans for a tree planting program in commemoration of World Environment Day on June 5, 2024.

“Our aim is not only to introduce our organization to your esteemed department but also to discuss how we can partner effectively to achieve our mutual goals. With the support of your department, we believe we can greatly amplify the impact of our environmental sustainability initiatives across the Plateau,” Mr. Namua stated.

In response, Prof. Ali lauded HAPFA’s commitment and assured them of the department’s willingness to support and collaborate on these noble initiatives. “Our department is eager to collaborate with organizations like HAPFA to foster a greener and healthier Plateau State. Together, we can achieve significant progress,” he affirmed.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to formalize their partnership and initiate joint activities aimed at bolstering environmental stewardship and sustainability within the university community and beyond.
