Again Plateau Lawmaker Launches Another Empowerment Scheme

They Member representing Kanke Constituency,in the Plateau State House of Assembly Barr. Wallok Goma has again launched another phase of empowerment scheme as part of his empowerment initiative to make his constituents self reliant.

Lighbearernews reports that this time, over 500 hundred constituents smiled home with cash and equipment to either boost their businesses or for a start up.

At the distribution ceremony held recently at Kwal, Headquarters of Kanke Local Government Council, Wallok in his opening remarks said the empowerment initiative is a segment of his constituency intervention programme, describing it as residue of projects for the year 2021.

While appreciating the people for the opportunity to serve them, the lawmaker who is also the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, said he deliberately chose to carry out people oriented programmes that will have direct bearing on the lives of the people.

According to him, due to paucity of funds currently being experienced, not all needs will be met by government hence, the need for intervention by the legislators especially in the areas of empowerment for financial freedom.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman Kanke Local Government Council, Henry Gotip said they were gathered at the occasion to simply enjoy the dividends of democracy, stating that what was happening was practically democracy on display.

He said by giving back to the people as a representative, Hon. Wallok has shown and demonstrated that he can take up more responsibilities ahead, saying what he has done is worthy of commendation.

Also, the PLHA Speaker represented by the Deputy Speaker, Saleh Yipmong, applauded the people of Kanke for giving their mandate to Wallok which according to him, was a wise decision and not a mistake.

While congratulating the beneficiaries, he said what the lawmaker has done was also inline with the rescue administration’s empowerment initiative as he enjoined them to put the items into judicious use, adding that they are for welfare purposes and not to be sold.

Delivering a goodwill message at the occasion, the District Head of Kabwir, Nde Dominic Gofwen who spoke on behalf of the other District and Village Heads present also commended Hon. Wallok for the kind gesture and charged beneficiaries to put into good use the items received as the gesture translates to putting food on their tables.

Some of the beneficiaries who could not control their emotions, burst into tears of joy as friends and family members supported them in carrying their items home.

Lightbearernews reports that the items include twenty (25) Water Pumping Machine, twenty five (25) grinding machines, twenty two (22) sewing machines, thirty six (36) hair clippers while the sum of three Million was disbursed to others, with each receiving the sum of ten thousand naira each.
