2023: Politicians Urged to Learn Peaceful Politics From Church

The Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Prof. Sonni Gwanle Tyoden has called on Politicians to emulate the Church in the conduct of credible and peaceful elections.

According to lightbearernews Sonni Tyoden said this while speaking at the induction of the new Vice President of the Church of Christ in Nations COCIN, Rev. Dr. Timothy Nwan which was held at the Compound Church headquarters in Jos the Plateau State capital.

Lightbearernews also reported that While congratulating COCIN for having a peaceful election devoid of petitions and court cases as is usually the case with secular politics, Prof. Tyoden reminded politicians on the need to be truthful and transparent with processes leading to the emergence of leaders.

“I am sure your election was credible and without any petitions because you did not employ delegates to vote for you. We have a lot to learn from the Church especially we here on the Plateau. We call ourselves Christians but we often fail to live by the name Jos is known with; “Jesus Our Saviour”, he said.

Tyoden reminded politicians on the need to work together for the common interest and development of Plateau State and expressed his readiness to partner with the Church where necessary. He called on the newly inducted Vice President, Rev. Dr. Timothy Nwan to feel free to approach him for any advises as he has been deputizing for the past 7 years.

He prayed for God to grant the new leader the grace and ability to work with his superior bearing in mind that he is working for God through the Church, lightbearernews reports.
